DCC press release

Official release of the Dinnertablia Constitutional Convention

The Dinnertablia Constitutional Convention has made enormous strides in the past few days. We are well on our way to composing a constitution that upholds the rights and morals of the Dinnertablians. Thus far, the following points have been voted on. Please note that the majority of our discussion has been mainly on the Legislative Branch, and we are not finished with even that as of right now. We will of course continue to add to and refine the constitution in the weeks ahead.

-Dinnertablia will be divided into ten counties based on population. Each county will have roughly 260,000 people in it with our current population. The borders of the counties will change with the changes in population. These counties will not have the power to pass their own laws. Domestic laws will be passed by the General Assembly (see below).

-There will be three branches in our government: The Legislative branch, the Judicial branch, and the Executive branch.

- The Legislative branch will be composed of two bodies: the General Assembly and the National Assembly.

o The General Assembly will have 30 members, with three elected from each county. There will be elections every year, with one of the three up for election each year; terms are three years. They will be in charge of setting up parks, roads, etc. They will have the power to set up county courts. They can also propose laws to the National Assembly.

o The National Assembly will be composed of 50 members, with five from each county. There will be elections every year, with one of the five up for election each year; terms are five years. The members will make the laws for the state of Dinnertablia. They can veto any public measure passed by the General Assembly with a super-majority (2/3 of the vote).

- The Judicial branch will have one Supreme Court and various county courts set

up by the General Assembly. The Supreme Court will have 11 judges.

- The Executive branch will be run by the Head of State.
